CommLedge has participated to the IBC "Standards and Patents" 2013 Conference as a panelist. The way the Intellectual Property system is set-up and its influence on the Standards development is an area of interest for us. This year, Emmanuel Darmois has participated in two panel discussions.

The first one is addressing Standards and Innovation. The angle chosen is more about where innovation is driving the Standards & Patents (S&P) system in ICT and how this should be dealt with. The main point here is that the accumulation of various innovation schemes necessitates that all the corresponding S&P paradigms be supported. It is a question of coexistence of the existing one and the those which are about to emerge.

The second one is addressing the in-depth collaboration of Standards Setting Organizations and Open Source Software in the production of 21st century standards.
