After several years of App Store, it is still possible to be thrilled and stimulated by new applications that appear suddently and let you wonder why such a simple and brilliant idea has not been implemented earlier. Actually, we are precisely talking about innovation, the ability to create the perfect blend of ease of use, functional richness, flexibility that makes you life a bit different afterwards.

Status Board from Panic Software is precisely in this category. To get more details, you can refer to in-depth review (here, here or here). To sum up, Status Board offers the possibility to display in a simple and elegant manner some of your most important snippets of life and follow their evolution in real-time. This is the return of the widget with the power of the tablet. On a single screen, you can have your agenda, the local temperature as well as that in your best preferred resort in Hawai (maybe not a 'most important snippet of life' but you get the idea), the news coming from a selection of the RSS feeds you track, the status of your email accounts (in a variety of formats).

And moreover, you have the possibility to add your own custom widgets, but to be honest this is still a bit geeky and requires a certain level of mastery in JSON and other obscur scripting languages. But a new set of widgets are appearing (and sites dedicated to them, like here) and it is likely that more widgets will happen and more generic ones (I am not extremely interested in the train time table in Stockholm, but if this widget becomes - with a little bit of additinal work - an easy way to get the Paris ones, I am interested.

All in all, excellent value for money. And my personal recommendation of the week !
